As a charity golf organizer, you are tasked with organizing an incredible event for players AND raising funds for a cause. That’s where sponsorships come in. The right sponsors are your secret weapon in attracting players and maximizing revenues.

In this blog, we’ll outline 5 steps that will guide you in attracting that one premium golf glove sponsor who elevates your players’ experience and maximizes your fundraising dollars.

Our 5-Step Guide to Securing a Sponsor

Step #1: Identify Your Ideal Golf Glove Sponsor

We know you’re swamped, so let’s simplify it. Choose one industry that resonates with your audience and aligns with your tournament’s spirit. Think about local businesses that can benefit from meeting/reaching your golf-loving crowd.

In our experience, the following businesses will typically be VERY interested in sponsoring your glove program:

  1. Automotive Dealerships
  2. Real Estate Brokers
  3. Financial Planners
  4. Larger companies within your community
  5. Home improvement/ construction companies
  6. Banks/ Credit Unions
  7. Craft breweries
  8. Restaurants

Create a list of 10-20 businesses. If you have a personal connection to a company – awesome! If not, use LinkedIn to identify the VP of Marketing, Sales or Corporate Social Responsibility at the company.

Step #2: Reach Out With a Compelling Value Proposition

Keep it “on point”. The key is to highlight how this sponsorship can give the company direct access to a captivated and influential audience while supporting a meaningful cause. Most clients start with an introductory email.

Here’s one “done for you” email outreach template that’s proven to work!

Subject: Your Brand on Every Player’s Hand: Partner with [Tournament Name]

Dear [Sponsor’s First Name],

I hope this email finds you well. My name is [Your Name], and I am reaching out on behalf of [Organization or Tournament Name]. You are one of the first companies I am reaching out to re sponsoring custom golf gloves at the [tournament name] taking place on [Date] at [Location].

I thought you would be keen to learn about this opportunity because there are many benefits of Golf Glove Sponsorship that align perfectly with your brand…

  1. Community Exposure: As a golf glove sponsor, every player will be wearing your premium logo’d glove at the tourney (and 200+ times thereafter!). Plus your brand would be featured in our marketing materials before, during and after the event.
  2. Relationship Building: As a golf glove sponsor, you are invited to welcome players and “size them up” with a custom glove that you “personalize on the spot”. Talk about hands-on networking – I can explain how easy and fun we make this experience!
  3. Social Support: [If applicable, emphasize any charitable initiatives tied to the event.] Your sponsorship will directly contribute to [briefly describe the impact your event will have on the community or cause].

Would you be available for a brief call or meeting to discuss how a partnership with [Tournament Name] could benefit [Sponsor’s Company Name] and contribute to the success of our event?

Thank you for considering this sponsorship opportunity. We truly believe that together, we can make a lasting impact.

Warm regards,

[Your Name] [Your Title] [Your Organization] [Your Email Address] [Your Phone Number]

Step #3: Showcase the Benefits

During the meeting (because your email will secure a 1:1 call!) it’s important to paint a picture of the specific benefits a sponsor will receive.

You might want to emphasize that there is only one glove sponsor – this means only their logo will be on every player’s hand for every swing. Talk about the demographics of the players attending your event and how sponsors will personally meet, greet and fit every single player at the event… forging business opportunities and lasting connections.

Step #4: Share the Impact

Sponsorship is not just a one day event. Mention your PR timeline before, during and after the event.

We recommend organizers include sponsor branding and links on the tournament website, social media posts and other media planned.

After the event, talk about how you will promote the impact their sponsorship made in reaching your financial goals and how the money will be spent in the community. This truly creates a win-win scenario for you, your sponsor and the charitable cause.

Step #5: Secure the Partnership

After your in-person meeting, there’s a 99.9% chance the sponsor will want to support your cause and be part of your amazing tournament experience.

We recommend getting more than a handshake. Discuss the details and answer any questions. Make it clear that you’re excited about their potential involvement and eager to collaborate for a successful tournament – then put it in writing.
